The wedding festivities culminate with the ceremony itself on the last and final day. The groom's procession (baraat) is the formal beginning of the wedding ceremony, during which the groom along with his entourage of family members and friends arrive in grand fashion. The members of the procession dance in a festive style to the beat of a drum (dhol) accompanied by music, pomp, and flare! Thereafter, the ceremony and rituals begin at the hands of the groom and bride's parents, and shortly thereafter the bride enters the ceremony altar to join and continue the rituals. The two key components of the Hindu wedding ceremony are the four sacred rounds and the seven steps representative of the marriage vows. Lastly, the newlyweds are given blessings from everyone, and soon thereafter the bride and groom depart for the first time as a married couple!
